Horley & District History group follows a theme for about three months, which is group member led and, when possible, an outing is arranged pertinent to the period we are exploring.
A period of history is chosen of which we have scant knowledge and appeals to the majority - not following chronological order - merely times that appeal. Research follows a similar pattern. Each group member chooses an aspect of the time to research then, at the monthly meeting, two or three members report back on their findings. They usually talk for around 15 to 20 minutes - followed by a discussion on issues raised in their talk - this can get quite lively!
At the moment we are looking at “WORLD WAR 2 - The HOME FRONT”
If you'd like to expand your knowledge of different historical eras - you will be very welcome to join us.
